History and Values
Over 100 years of care.
Our story began in 1897, when the Reverend A.B. Buchanan, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, spearheaded a vision to create a retirement community. What was then known as The Cumberland Rest (TCR) broke ground in Arlington Heights. Clearly, they tapped into something special because over the next several decades, TCR kept expanding and evolving. In 1975, the TCR board purchased land on the corner of Texas and Penn Streets and built what is now known as Trinity Terrace.
We grow with you.
In 1995, Trinity Terrace joined the Pacific Retirement Services (PRS) family of affiliates. Since then, Trinity Terrace has continued to grow. In addition to our main tower, we added the 16-story City Tower in 2008, and in August 2017, we opened the doors to the 23-story River Tower.
We are—and always have been—a not-for-profit, resident-centered organization. We are continually reinvesting back into our community, expanding programs and services, and creating amenities to make your life richer, fuller and more rewarding.
